CSBG Annual Report data preparation guide
Module-by-module walkthrough, common validation errors and submission timeline.
Resource detail
The CSBG Annual Report is the network's national accountability record. Preparation is a year-round data-quality exercise, not a reporting-season scramble.
What each module covers
- Module 1 — state administration and use of funds
- Module 2 — agency expenditures, capacity and organizational standards
- Module 3 — national performance indicators for individual, family and community outcomes
- Module 4 — a narrative on innovation and results
Common validation problems
- Outcome counts higher than the number of people served in the service
- Duplicated households across programmes
- Community-level indicators reported without documented evidence
- Demographic totals that do not reconcile to the unduplicated count
Keep it clean year round
Reconcile service counts monthly, agree a single unduplicated-count rule across programmes, and record community outcomes when they happen with the source document attached. Set an internal deadline ahead of the state deadline for board review.
